Springtime Tallahassee kicked off this past weekend with the 38th Springtime 10K/5K and 1 Mile Run. Presented by the Gulf Winds Track Club, the annual event brought together more than 2,000 racers with results provided by an RFID-based timing system from ChronoTrack.
Race participants were each issued a numbered race bib with a ChronoTrack B-Tag timing chip embedded, with RFID timing mats at both the start and finish line. With the automatic system, race organizers were able to record runners’ split, net time, finish and pace; with results posted to the Web in real-time.
Tallahassee is no stranger to race events powered by RFID technology, with the city recently hosting its Third Annual DC Doggie Dash where runners’ times were recorded using a similar chip system developed by RFID Race Timing Systems.
Last November, approximately 5,924 runners and walkers gathered for the city’s 37th Annual Tallahassee Turkey Trot. Race organizers utilized an RFID-based timing system – also from ChronoTrack – to track the race and post real-time results on the event organizer’s Web site
